AC Milan set to release Fikayo Tomori with Newcastle United interested

AC Milan are prepared to allow Fikayo Tomori to leave the club as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the 2026/27 season.

The 28-year-old defender joined the Serie A club permanently from Chelsea in 2023 after initially moving to Italy on loan. He has since made more than 200 appearances for AC Milan and was an important member of the side that won the 2021/22 title.

Tomori is no longer considered part of Ruben Amorim’s plans at San Siro, having failed to make a league appearance so far this season.

He has been brought back into the first-team squad after Matteo Gabbia suffered a long-term injury. However, that change has not altered Amorim’s view of the England international, whose future is expected to lie away from AC Milan.

Tomori is now set to return to the Premier League as a free agent next summer, when his contract situation allows him to leave without a transfer fee.

Newcastle United are reported to be the leading contenders to sign him, although other English clubs could also put forward competing contract offers.
