Tui River Cruises guests can sail the Danube and be back in Budapest in time for the big race
Tui is bringing together rivers and racetracks for its first-ever racing-themed cruise.
Formula 1 fans will be able to sail on the Danube with Tui River Cruises next summer on a special sailing that includes grandstand tickets for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Departing on 26 July 2027 aboard TUI Maya, the seven-night From River to Racetrack itinerary starts in Budapest, Hungary, and visits Bratislava in Slovakia and Vienna in Austria for overnight stops.
The river cruise ship returns to the Hungarian capital for a two-night stay in time for the first day of the race weekend on Friday 30 July.
The cruise includes seated grandstand access with tickets and transfers to the Hungaroring circuit across all three days.
These include Friday’s practice day, Saturday’s qualifying day and the big race on the Sunday.
Guests will stay on the ship throughout the weekend. There will also be a guest speaker onboard during the sailing offering insights into the sport.
Prices start from £2,299 per person. This covers return flights, transfers, three meals a day, mealtime drinks, wifi, tips and service charges, as well as Grand Prix tickets.
On board, guests can dine in the elegant Verdastro restaurant or the more casual Bistro. Menus change regularly, with food inspired by local dishes.
Features on the 155-passenger capacity river cruise ship include two lounges to enjoy a morning coffee or evening cocktails, and a wellness area with a whirlpool and sauna.
Guests can also enjoy the views from the top deck or take part in activities such as giant Connect 4 and mini-golf.
Katy Berzins, head of river cruise at Tui River Cruises, said: “Travel is increasingly being shaped by the experiences people want to have, with major sporting and live events becoming a real reason to visit a destination. Our first ever racing themed cruise taps into that trend, bringing together the excitement of the Hungarian Grand Prix with the ease of a Tui River Cruises holiday.
“It showcases what modern river cruising is all about: flexibility, choice and the freedom to experience more in one holiday. Customers can unpack once, discover iconic destinations along the Danube and experience Budapest at one of the most exciting times of the year, while choosing how they want to make the most of their time both on board and ashore.”
Cruise lines regularly offer Grand Prix cruises.
Explora Journeys and MSC Cruises branding is regularly seen at Grand Prix races as the cruise lines are major sponsors of the event.
MSC-owned luxury cruise line Explora Journeys will dock just 150 metres from the Monaco Grand Prix next year.
Windstar’s Wind Spirit will also stay in Nice for the Monaco race weekend next year and will transport guests to the track.
