A former collegiate athlete has reportedly signed with WWE.
According to PWInsider, 23-year-old Elly Finch has inked a developmental deal with WWE after impressing at her latest company tryout, held during the 2026 SummerSlam weekend in Minnesota.
Finch, a former shot put thrower for Michigan State's Track and Field team, initially participated in a WWE tryout hosted at the WWE Performance Center this past January. A bump to the head kept her sidelined for a portion of it. Still, she managed to show enough potential that WWE officials invited her back for another one, this time centered around "The Biggest Party of the Summer."
"The second or third day, I hit my head and they said I had a concussion, so I had to sit out a couple days. But it's fine," Finch said in a January 2026 Instagram video. "I did my promos and everything, so I still had a blast. Anyway, my WWE recruiter called me the other day, and she said that, unfortunately, I didn't get signed, but they want to invite me back for an extended tryout, which they often do if they like someone, but they kind of want to see a little more from them. So I was invited to the SummerSlam tryout they're hosting in like six-ish months."
Following her official signing, Finch is expected to be part of the incoming WWE NXT Performance Center class. The latest group, announced last month, included former WWE ID prospect Zoe Sager, Aussie indie standouts Scott Green and The Tuckman, and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio's daughter Aalyah Gutierrez.
WWE has held two additional tryout experiences since SummerSlam. The first took the company to Colombia; the second emanated from the state of Hawaii last weekend.
