Nigeria’s Edo Queens FC will face Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies on Thursday, October 29, in a 30-minute extra-time period to decide who represents the WAFU-B zone at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The two sides will resume their interrupted playoff in Cairo, where the tournament runs from November 1 to 15.
The fixture follows a dispute over the WAFU-B qualifiers in Burkina Faso two months ago. Edo Queens beat Ampem Darkoa 4-1 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time and were declared winners.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies, however, petitioned CAF over the officiating, and the continental body ordered that 30 minutes of extra time be played to settle the matter.
Edo Queens’ camp in Cairo is said to be confident ahead of the match. “The players are in the right frame of mind,” Coach Moses Aduku said
The winner will take the last place in Group B, alongside Morocco’s AS FAR, Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies and Mali’s US FAS Bamako. The tournament brings together eight of Africa’s leading women’s clubs.
Qualification would give Nigerian women’s club football another chance to compete on the continental stage, and many pundits at home have tipped Edo Queens to prevail again.
The Champions League winner will also earn a place in the qualifying round of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, to be held in the United States in 2027.
