Jason Flynn's Tommy Larkin's are through to a first Galway SHC final in 55 years

Maynooth ended a 110 year wait for a Kildare SFC final appearance with a semi-final victory over Naas in Cedral St Conleth's Park.

The underdogs had dethroned reigning champions Athy in the quarter-finals but were little fancied against a Naas side that had won four in a row prior to their surprise reversal in last year's final.

Naas led for most of normal time though their wastefulness in front of goal kept Maynooth in the game, with Paddy Mahoney's late two-pointer taking a low-scoring game to extra-time.

It was in the first half of extra-time that Cathal McCabe nailed the game's decisive score, powering through a gap in the Naas defence and side-footing a right-footed shot to the net.

Maynooth, whose two county final victories came in 1896 and 1913, clung on to win 1-15 to 0-16.

They'll face either Sarsfields or Celbridge in the decider, the pair meeting in tomorrow's semi.

There was another upset in the Galway SHC as Tommy Larkin's reached a first final since 1971 after turning over Clarinbridge in the semi-final in Athenry - also after extra-time.

Tommy Larkin's led by a goal at the break, Conor Gardiner's strike the difference in a game which stood at 1-12 to 0-12.

County star Aaron Niland buried a penalty for Clarinbridge to set up a tense finale, the game finishing at 1-20 apiece after 70 minutes.

Galway veteran Jason Flynn landed 0-13 in total for Tommy Larkin's, while Evan Niland landed 0-15 from frees from Clarinbridge but it was Ronan Gardiner's extra-time goal that proved decisive as Larkin's reached the decider.

Based around the Woodford's area in south Galway, Larkin's sole county title came in that final appearance in '71, the starting XV containing the club's most famous son, legendary Galway manager Cyril Farrell.

2025-26 All-Ireland finalists Loughrea face Craughwell in the second semi-final tomorrow afternoon.

Elsewhere this afternoon, Kildimo/Pallaskenry beat St Mungret's St Paul's 2-16 to 0-20 after extra-time in the Limerick SFC semi-final.
