AC Monza fell 1-2 to Juventus FC in a hard-fought Primavera 1 fixture at the Centro Sportivo Silvio e Luigi Berlusconi-Monzello, dropping three points after a late second-half surge fell just short. AC Monza reported the result after a match that saw the hosts control long stretches of possession before visitors capitalized on clinical counterattacks.
The seventh-round league fixture began with a cagey tactical battle. Both teams spent the opening quarter-hour probing for weaknesses, with the Biancorossi building play deliberately from the back. Coach Luciano Vulcano’s side leaned heavily on the physical and technical pairing of Fogliaro and Abou Elezz to stretch the Juventus backline. Juventus gradually settled, and although Tiozzo missed the target in the 19th minute, the visitors broke the deadlock on 29 minutes. Borasio collected a pass at the edge of the area and curled a precise effort into the top corner, leaving Monza goalkeeper Strajnar with no chance.
Monza tried to respond immediately, but Simone Padoin’s Juventus defense maintained disciplined shape. Right before halftime, Juventus struck again. Following a quick transition down the left flank, Rigo doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, punishing Monza’s adventurous buildup just before the interval.
Trailing by two, Monza emerged from the break with heightened aggression. Martone drove his teammates forward, forcing the visitors deeper into their own half. Juventus threatened on the counter, and Strajnar kept Monza in the contest in the 24th minute with a sharp reaction save to deny a fierce right-footed shot from Camara.
Monza’s persistence paid off in the 34th minute. Substitute Buonaiuto sliced through the Juventus defense with a clever individual effort before cutting back to Fogliaro. Fogliaro’s first-time shot deflected into the path of Zanni, who reacted quickest to bundle past Juventus keeper Huli. Buoyed by the goal, Monza poured numbers forward. In the 38th minute, Fardin danced past two defenders on the left and delivered a dangerous cross across the face of goal, but no teammate arrived to turn it in.
Juventus weathered a frantic stoppage-time onslaught, during which Huli comfortably gathered a 46th-minute strike from Zanni to secure the victory as referee Federico Tassano blew the final whistle.
