Super Eagles’ forward, Victor Osimhen, recently back from injury will be hoping to lead his Süper Lig side, Galatasaray to another victory against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday (today) in one of the Matchday 8 fixture at the Eryaman Stadyumu in Ankara.
Osimhen missed out of the three weeks international break but made his competitive return on October 9, coming off the bench in the 77th minute, providing an assist in Galatasaray’s 3–1 win over Kasımpaşa before playing the full 90 minutes for his team in their 4–1 defeat against FC Barcelona in the Champions League.
Galatasaray lead the Süper Lig table in 1st place with 16 points. Okan Buruk’s side bounced back from a prior loss by defeating Kasımpaşa 3–1 in the league.
Gençlerbirliği on the other hand sit 13th with eight points from seven matches, currently on a five-match winless run under new head coach Bernd Storck (two draws, three losses).
They earned a 2–2 home draw against Amedspor in their last league outing.
The contest is likely to be decided by whether Osimhen can find the same space in the Gençlerbirliği box that he has found all season elsewhere.
Five league outings this term have brought the Super Eagles forward six strikes and three further assists.
Facing him is a home defence leaking at a rate of more than two goals per game across their last five matches.
