Championship consultant Munir Tijjani has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s preparedness to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), citing government support and cooperation among stakeholders ahead of the continental women’s golf championship.

Tijjani said preparations were progressing with 11 days remaining before the tournament, scheduled for November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.

He said the support of government agencies and other partners had strengthened coordination and preparations for the competition, which is expected to attract golfers from about 30 African countries.

The consultant also assured participating nations that the Abuja golf course would be available for the championship, expressing confidence in the venue’s readiness to host the event.

The tournament will bring together women golfers representing their countries to compete for continental honours, while providing an opportunity to promote women’s golf and strengthen sporting relations among African nations.

Nigeria will host the AACT for the third time, having previously staged the championship in 1996 at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos and in 2010 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja.

The 2026 edition is expected to showcase Nigeria’s capacity to host international sporting competitions while providing opportunities for tourism, cultural exchange and cooperation among participating countries.

With preparations entering their final phase, the Local Organising Committee and its partners are working towards ensuring a smooth competition.

The championship will be held under the slogan, “Uniting Africa Through the Greens”, reflecting its emphasis on using golf to strengthen ties across the continent.
