Barcelona forward Karim Adeyemi said the Spanish club’s defensive discipline was the decisive factor in limiting Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen’s influence during Wednesday night’s Champions League match in Istanbul.
Barcelona recovered from an early setback to secure a 4-1 victory over Galatasaray at Rams Park. The result gave the LaLiga side their second win of the Champions League league phase.
Asked about facing a forward of Osimhen’s calibre and Barcelona’s approach to containing him, Adeyemi praised the team’s back line for preventing the Nigerian international from becoming a major attacking threat.
“It is always good to see Nigerian players performing on the biggest stage,” Adeyemi said. “I am always pleased for them, but our defence did an excellent job yesterday and it was very difficult for him to have any real impact.”
