The Judo Club Quissacois, an association with approximately 200 members, has launched its new season of self-defense training with a schedule of upcoming workshops. The club, which operates out of a local sports hall, provides instruction for all ages, ranging from children as young as four years old to senior and veteran practitioners, according to reports from Midi Libre.
The association maintains a focus on both recreational activity and competitive results. Recently, cadet member Tom Amadori, who holds a brown belt, achieved a third-place finish at a tournament held in Le Luc, located in the Var department. The club’s curriculum is structured across various age-based categories, including pre-poussins, poussins, benjamins, minimes, and cadets, alongside junior and senior divisions. Club president Marc Blanc noted that the organization actively seeks to host regular events to maintain engagement among its membership.
Beyond traditional judo instruction, the club offers taïso sessions three times per week. This discipline, conducted under the license of the French Judo Federation, focuses on physical conditioning, including cardiovascular health and muscle strengthening. Marc Blanc described the program as a versatile offering that remains accessible to all members, with approximately 50 athletes currently participating in these sessions.
The club is expanding its curriculum to include specialized self-defense training. On October 25, the facility will host an initiation session led by Joël Pouchoux. The workshop is open to participants aged 16 and older, with no upper age limit, and is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. local time. Following this initial event, the club intends to incorporate further self-defense programming throughout the year, with plans currently being developed for a session specifically tailored to children.
