A TRIP to Auckland gave brothers Silas and Vinicus Cecil Singh an opportunity to test their football skills against older players and reach the under-14 final of the 2026 New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated (NZFFI) Youth IDC.

The sons of Rewa football vice-president Peter Cecil are both part of Rewa’s red kaji kaji program and the McDonald’s league.

Their appearance for NZ Nadi provided an opportunity to take their skills beyond local competition and gain valuable overseas exposure at a young age.

Silas also made his mark during the competition, scoring a penalty and saving a spot kick during the final.

For the youngster, the tournament provided an opportunity to test himself against older players and gain experience outside Fiji’s local football competitions.

His elder brother, Vinicus Cecil Singh, was also part of the NZ Nadi team, making the Auckland trip a shared football experience for the siblings.

Both boys are involved in Rewa’s Red Kaji Kaji programme and the McDonald’s League, where they continue to develop their skills through grassroots football.

Their participation in the tournament offered a glimpse of the opportunities available to young Fijian players when they gain exposure to different playing conditions and opponents.

The boys are the sons of Rewa Football Association vice-president Peter Cecil.

Their family acknowledged NZFFI, the Fiji Football Association, Rewa Football Association’s Red Kaji Kaji programme, NZ Nadi and everyone who helped make their participation possible.

The experience in Auckland gives the brothers another milestone in their football development, with lessons from the tournament to carry into their future competitions in Fiji.
