A Familiar Face Returns to "Tiger Territory"

Mishra, aged 43, brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the Delhi setup. He is celebrated as the Delhi Capitals' highest-ever wicket-taker in the IPL, a testament to his storied playing career with the franchise. The veteran spinner, who retired from professional cricket in September 2025, holds an impressive record of 174 wickets in the IPL and is uniquely known for his three hat-tricks in the tournament – the most by any player.

His return is anticipated to provide invaluable mentorship to the current crop of spinners and contribute significantly to the team's bowling strategies. The franchise expressed their excitement, welcoming the "OG Tiger" back to the fold via their social media channels.

Revamped Coaching Staff for IPL 2027

Mishra's appointment is a key piece in the newly structured coaching lineup for the Delhi Capitals. The franchise has assembled a formidable team of former international stars to guide the squad for IPL 2027. The coaching staff now includes:

• Head Coach: Sourav Ganguly
• Assistant & Batting Coach: Yuvraj Singh
• Fast Bowling Coach: Chaminda Vaas
• Spin Bowling Coach: Amit Mishra

This star-studded panel signifies the Capitals' serious intent to challenge for their maiden IPL title. The team had a disappointing run in IPL 2026, finishing in sixth position under the captaincy of Axar Patel and head coach Hemang Badani. The management's decision to revamp the staff highlights their commitment to building a winning combination for the upcoming season.
