Top versus bottom clashes headline Motsepe Foundation action

As yet another exciting installment of the Motsepe Foundation Championship unfolds this weekend, teams at both ends of the table will be under the spotlight as they scrap for vital points in their respective objectives for the 2026/27 campaign.

Magesi will enter this weekend’s list of fixtures sitting in pole position after taking home 14 points from their first six encounters. As the only unbeaten team in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Magesi stumbled in their last two games as they shared the spoils in draws alongside Hungry Lions and NWU respectively.

Now looking to get back on track, the league leaders will face Venda Football Academy on Saturday, with the latter sitting in last position on the table.

Following a draw on the opening day, Venda went on a five-match losing streak with the latest being a 1-0 away defeat against Midlands Wanderers on 10 October. After gathering just one point for the campaign, Venda are two points from safety as they remain in search of their first league win.

Elsewhere, second-placed Real Native will aim to re-enter the winning column when they take on The Bees away on Saturday, with the latter occupying 15th position.

After noting three consecutive wins, Real Native fell to a 2-0 loss against Hungry Lions last time out as they remained on 12 points from six games, two points away from the summit.

The Bees, on the other hand, took home just three points from a possible 18 so far this season and will go into their next assignment on the back of a 3-1 loss against Cape Town City, with the Citizens scheduled to shake hands with Gomora United on Friday afternoon.

City are unbeaten in their last five matches as they recorded three wins and two draws during this period as they moved within three points of table toppers Magesi.

Elsewhere, Hungry Lions and the University of Pretoria will hope to make it two wins on the trot when they do battle on Saturday afternoon.

While eighth-placed Hungry Lions topped Real Native in their last fixture, AmaTuks gathered momentum through a 2-0 victory over Leicesterford City during matchday six to move into 9th position.
