The Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA) and the Continental American Football League of Africa (CAFL) have signed a two-year broadcasting agreement that will see the GADA Awards ceremony broadcast in Nigeria from 2027.
A statement on Tuesday by GADA founder and Chief Executive Officer, Obi-West Utchaychukwu, AKA Obi of Houston, said the agreement was signed earlier in November last year.
The agreement was made public following CAFL’s recent press conference in Makurdi, Benue State, where the league announced plans to develop American football in Nigeria.
Under the agreement, CAFL is expected to provide a broadcasting platform for the awards ceremony and financial support towards its organisation.
However, the organisations have yet to disclose the television stations involved, the broadcast schedule, or whether the coverage will extend to other African countries.
The partnership comes as CAFL prepares to introduce and develop American football in Nigeria, with Benue State designated as the pilot location for its grassroots programme.
CAFL Commissioner, Muhammed El-Muhammed, said the initiative would focus on identifying young talents, encouraging participation and creating opportunities for young people, including potential employment prospects.
Details of the programme’s funding, training arrangements and implementation timeline have not been made public.
American football remains less established in Nigeria than other popular sports, and the success of the proposed initiative will depend on efforts to develop grassroots participation and provide sustainable training opportunities.
GADA is an awards platform that recognises individuals and organisations in sectors including business, healthcare, law, entertainment, technology, entrepreneurship and community development.
Its next awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in Houston, United States, on November 7, 2026.
The two organisations have yet to provide further details on the broadcast arrangements and the full terms of the agreement.
