GIANNI INFANTINO has suggested the controversial Fifa Peace Prize could be scrapped after only one year.
The 56-year-old has explained the future of the Fifa Peace Prize will be “analysed” after Donald Trump, 80, was awarded it last year.
Infantino spoke out after Thursday’s Fifa Council meeting as the award’s future hangs in the balance.
He said: “For the Fifa Peace Prize, it was decided that the Football Social Responsibility Committee will be tasked to analyse it and provide a proposal.”
A decision will then be made regarding the Peace Prize’s future ahead of the next Fifa Council meeting in December.
It comes after U.S. President Trump was shockingly given the inaugural award last November during the 2026 World Cup draw.
This decision was met with significant controversy as Infantino faced criticism for his close relationship with Trump.
Infantino has also apologised for the now-scrapped Fifa Forward Enterprise plans, which looked to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investment.
Infantino added: “I apologised for the mistakes that we made in relation to the communication and consultation process related to the Fifa Forward Enterprise project, which then led to many consequences.
“It is important to remember it was a proposal, in no way a done deal.”

Additionally, Fifa is looking to review its Disciplinary Code to avoid a repeat of the Folarin Balogun scandal that saw the USA star’s one-match ban be suspended.
Infantino continues to face significant pressure as he seeks to be elected for a fourth term as FifaPresidentt.
Former Tottenham defender Ramon Vega, 55, has even expressed his desire to stand against Infantino as UEFA decides who to nominate.
The presidential election is scheduled for the 77th FIFA Congress on Thursday, 18 March 2027.
