Flamingos Resume Training After Poland Defeat, Shift Focus to Puerto Rico

Nigeria’s Flamingos have returned to training as they prepare for Tuesday’s crucial Group B clash against Puerto Rico at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, following their opening defeat to Poland, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigerian side lost 2-1 to Poland in their first match, with substitute Oluebube Umuejiaku getting on the scoresheet. The result leaves the Flamingos needing a positive response in their next fixture to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage on course.

With preparations now underway, the coaching crew will be working to correct the mistakes from the opening game and improve the team’s overall performance ahead of the encounter.

The meeting with Puerto Rico offers Nigeria an opportunity to bounce back and collect valuable points in their bid to progress from the group.

Tuesday’s match will also be the first time the Flamingos face Puerto Rico at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Nigerian youngsters will be hoping their preparations pay off as they look to get their campaign back on track and remain in contention for a place in the knockout rounds.
