Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 to Arsenal at the weekend to make it three successive defeats for Oliver Glasner.
The Reds have slipped into the bottom three for the first time this season following the alarming run of form. Defeats against Coventry, Crystal Palace and Arsenal have now left Forest already chasing points.
Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 might take some time to get right. However, the head coach is using a tried and tested formation that has won him trophies at all of his former clubs, most notably Eintracht Frankfurt and Palace.

Troy Deeney was very critical of Liam Delap after the Arsenal defeat, but former Forest player Franz Carr has shared that he has sympathy for one other Reds player during the latest City Ground defeat.
Wood came on when Forest were chasing the game at the weekend. Roy Keane gave the Forest striker some criticism, and it does appear as though the striker’s best days are behind him.
Wood stunned Ian Wright by fluffing his chance to score shortly after Arsenal had taken the lead, and now former Forest player Carr has offered some sympathy to the player who scored 20 goals in the 2024/25 campaign.
He told the Forest Focus podcast: “I felt sorry for Chris Wood when he came on to be honest. He looked his age, didn’t he? If you think two years ago he’s gobbling that up, isn’t he?
“He looked a little bit slow to do things, but sometimes it’s getting impact players on. You look at the Arsenal bench, and they can all make a difference, whereas the Forest bench you’re kind of looking at who is on there who can do that for us?”
Wood’s best days are firmly behind him, it would seem. However, he’s got a part to play between now and January at least, and he remains a very good leader to have in the dressing room.
His chance was somewhat poor. Allowing a player like Declan Rice to get a block in when he had so much time was pretty alarming, and clearly not playing much last season has taken a lot out of him.
Wood will now hope to contribute as much as he can this season but once Igor Jesus is fit to return there is a real possibility that the New Zealand legend could become a forgotten man.
