64 years of Uganda’s sports

Since gaining independence in 1962, Uganda has made significant strides in developing its sports industry, producing athletes who have earned the country international recognition. One of the defining moments came in 1972 when John Akii-Bua won Olympic gold in the 400-metre hurdles at the Munich Games. Professor Michael Byaruhanga Kadodoba, who has witnessed much of this evolution, takes us through Uganda’s sporting journey.
