Leandro de Sousa of Tuks opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the match. Their joy was short lived when the energetic, Momelezi Mngati scored the equaliser in the 13th minute. Seven minutes later and Ofentse “CR7” Dintwe made it 2-1 for the hosts.

The NWU did not put their foot off the pedal and could have been 3-1 up at half-time if they had taken their chances.

The hosts kept command in the second half, where tensions sometimes boiled over from a frustrated Tuks side who could not penetrate the NWU’s defence. Lucas Seromo was brilliant in the right-back position as he snuffed out numerous chances with ice-cold composure.

The final whistle saw scenes of delirium as the coaches and technical staff ran on the pitch to celebrate with the players, whilst the home fans broke out into song and dance.
