Leeds 1-1 Man United PLAYER RATINGS: Who 'still looks short of his best'? Which star was 'a real handful'? And whose performance will have pleased Michael Carrick? Plus, vote for YOUR scores

Leeds and Manchester United played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Under-fire United boss Michael Carrick saw his side go 1-0 up through Bryan Mbeumo after he turned home Youri Tielemans' cross, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised early in the second half when he fired home from close range.

Both sides pushed for a winner but neither could find a breakthrough as they were forced to settle for a point on an intense afternoon.

The result leaves United with seven points from seven league games, while Leeds are up in seventh place after racking up ten points so far this season.

Daily Mail Sport's CHRIS WHEELER was at Elland Road and he has rated both sets of players below...

Manchester United and Leeds played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Sunday

LEEDS UTD (3-4-2-1)

JAMES TRAFFORD 6 – Looked solid and showed good anticipation to race 40 yards out of his goal and clear at the feet of Diallo. Had little chance with Mbeumo’s goal from close-range.

JAMES JUSTIN 4 – Will be angry at himself that he lost track of Mbeumo for United’s opener. You can’t afford to switch off in games like this.

NICO ELVEDI 6 – Presented with one of Leeds’ few chances in the first half when his header was saved by Lammens. Had his hands full with Mbeumo as United’s forward line chopped and changed.

TARIK MUHAREMOVIC 6 – The big Bosnia defender was on the end of an ugly challenge from Fernandes early on, but recovered to get the crucial knockdown for Calvert-Lewin’s equaliser.

JAYDEN BOGLE 7 – Got forward to offer a real threat at times and also defended well. Great interception tackle on Dalot in the first half got a huge cheer.

ETHAN AMPADU 7 – Right in the thick of it. Set the tone with a couple of strong tackles early on, and squared up to Fernandes in the second half. Just the kind of approach Leeds fans love to see in this fixture.

AO TANAKA 5 – Had a couple of half chances, including a volley over the bar shortly after Calvert-Lewin’s equaliser. Replaced by Longstaff towards the end.

GABRIEL GUDMUNDSSON 5 – Booked for a challenge on Andrey Santos in the first half and was perhaps fortunate it wasn’t a red. Referee Darren England did well to let the tackles go in a fixture that was never going to be short on intensity.

ANTON STACH 6 – Had two chances to make his mark on this game but volleyed over in the 72nd minute and then side-footed straight at Lammens late on. Got away with a cheap shot on Fernandes but the United captain was never going to have much sympathy here.

NOAH OKAFOR 5 – Leeds’ two-goal hero from the win at Old Trafford in April rarely looked like scoring in this one and was replaced by Nmecha for the final quarter of the game.

DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN 8 – Playing with the confidence of a striker who only needs one chance and he took it with a clinical finish early in the second half. A real handful for United’s defenders.

Subs: Zetterer, Longstaff (for Tanaka 80, 6), Wilson, Aaronson, Nmecha (for Okafor 73, 6), Bijol, Bahoya, Bard, Gruev.

Scorer: Calvert-Lewin 51

Booked: Gudmundsson, Ampadu

DANIEL FARKE 6 - Will see this as a missed opportunity with Leeds on such a good run and their opponents struggling so far this season.

MAN UTD (4-2-3-1)

SENNE LAMMENS 5 – Couldn’t be faulted for the goal but still lacks the composure of last season which is perhaps inevitable in a United side short of confidence.

LENY YORO 6 – Looking more comfortable at right-back with each game he plays there. Took a blow to the face from Calvert-Lewin in the first half, but recovered well and stood strong against Okafor.

HARRY MAGUIRE 7 – His physicality was important here after missing out against Madrid in midweek. Good battle against Calvert-Lewin but wasn’t marking the Leeds striker when he equalised which was odd.

LISANDRO MARTINEZ 6 – Kept his place as expected after the furore over his post-match comments in Madrid and subsequent apology, but went off at half-time. Showed why United needed him here with a solid first-half display.

DIOGO DALOT 6 – Played out of position at left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw again and performed well in his duel with Bogle. Got forward well on occasions.

ANDREY SANTOS 6 – This was a big test for the Brazilian and Carrick chose to keep him on the pitch when he replaced Baleba, which says a lot for what the head coach thought of his performance.

CARLOS BALEBA 6 – Cool presence in midfield after he was flattened by Ampadu early on. He has brought a calmness and composure to this United team that was needed in the cauldron of Elland Road.

AMAD DIALLO 5 – Returned on the right flank and there is room for improvement after his injury lay-off in the first part of the season. There were concerns Diallo had suffered another one when he needed treatment after a challenge by Tanaka, but he recovered.

YOURI TIELEMANS 6 – Playing at No.10 suits his game better. In a game of very few chances, he created both openings for Mbeumo in the first half.

BRUNO FERNANDES 5 – Switched between the left flank and striker with Mbeumo in a fluid United formation, but still short of his best. Had to be careful after picking up an early yellow card for a lunging tackle on Muharemovic which had the home fans baying for a red.

BRYAN MBEUMO 7 – United’s most dangerous player. Scored the first goal with a simple finish after heading wide unmarked in front of goal. Was outmuscled by Calvert-Lewin for the equaliser, but it’s anyone’s guess why he was marking the big Leeds striker.

Subs: Darlow, Amass, De Ligt, Mazraoui (for Martinez 46), Mount (for Baleba 74), Lacey, Cunha (for Tielemans 84), Rashford, Zirkzee.

Scorer: Mbeumo 35

Booked: Fernandes, Andrey Santos

MICHAEL CARRICK 6 - It’s only two wins in 10 games this season, but the United boss will take a point here after another difficult week.
