Dilane Bakwa left Nottingham Forest in the summer to sign for Lille, and last night his team faced Arsenal in the Champions League.

Some of the more hipster Forest fans thought the Reds had hit the jackpot with the addition of Bakwa. However, last season was a bit of a confidence-sapping experience from his point of view, and he’s yet to really prove himself.

Bakwa featured in 24 games for the Reds in all competitions but managed just two assists. His move to Lille has begun in better fashion, with three goal contributions coming in his first seven games.

Last night, he was back in England playing for Lille against Arsenal. The experience didn’t prove overly positive for Bakwa, and the French media weren’t happy with his performance.

Where would you rank Steve Cooper on the list of Nottingham Forest managers since Brian Clough?!

If he's not the best, we'd love to know who is…

Dilane Bakwa flops vs Arsenal

Bakwa was handed a start against Arsenal and played for 82 minutes. The Premier League winners from last season ran out 3-0 winners during the contest as they warmed up for Sunday’s clash with Forest in style.

Get French Football News gave Bakwa a 3/10 for his efforts. He did look a little stifled on the right wing, and the outlet wrote: “The Nottingham Forest loanee failed to offer the necessary pace or outlet to trouble Arsenal’s backline.”

433 Foot were slightly more generous and scored him a 4/10 for his performance. However, that was still the lowest rating they gave any player in the Lille team on the night at the Emirates Stadium.

What the future holds for Bakwa at Forest remains to be seen. He does look more accustomed to playing in France, but at 24-years-old he shouldn’t be completely dismissed by the Forest supporters just yet.

Bakwa scored for Lille at the weekend. As a result, his performances feel a bit sporadic at the moment, and the hope will be that he can showcase his talents to Forest as the season continues to progress.
