Andoni Iraola reveals Dominik Szoboszlai injury latest in three-man Liverpool update
'The more he plays, the better Bradley Barcola will become', says Andoni Iraola after winger's slow start to the season

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has delivered injury updates on Dominik Szoboszlai, Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz ahead of the showdown against Brighton.

He did return to action in last weekend’s comeback win over nine-man Brentford, but was forced off after just 32 minutes with a recurrence of the same issue.

As a result, Szoboszlai watched on from the sidelines as Liverpool fought back from two goals down to beat Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night, though it’s understood he has not made his existing problem any worse.

Liverpool are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they host a free-scoring Brighton side at Anfield, and Iraola has revealed the latest on his injured midfielder.

Speaking on Friday in the pre-match press conference, the Reds head coach said: “Dom is going to be out this weekend, I don’t think he is far [away from a return] but he has not trained with the group still and also considering that the other day we started him and he had to go out.

“He is in a good place, he is already training outside alone and is going to train with the group, but he is not ready for this one.”

Barcola, meanwhile, trained individually and away from the group on Thursday to spark concerns over his fitness but Iraola has confirmed the France international will be available for selection.

“Bradley has trained today normally, he is fine,” the Spaniard added. “It was no problem, just a matter of sometimes you have have to deal with the load and consider sometimes they have to stay inside but he is fine.”

Munoz, however, remains a doubt after sustaining a knee injury against Brentford which kept him out against Villarreal.

Iraola added: “Victor has a knock he received against Brentford in the first half, he could finish the game very well but he is dealing with some pain since then.

“It was too early the other day against Villarreal, and I think it is going to be difficult [for Brighton] but I really don't know.”
