KCCA Women edge Jinja United in five-goal thriller

KCCA returned to winning ways on Thursday after defeating Jinja United 3-2 in the closely contested game played at MTN Omondi Stadium.

In a game of two halves, KCCA were dominant in the first half and led 3-0 in the opening stanza, but the visitors fought hard to score twice after the break.

Joanita Ainembabazi, Kamiyati Naigaga and substitute Loyce Komugisha scored a goal each for the Kampala Queens.

On the other hand, Sharon Kaudha and Shakira Kasango scored a goal each in a losing effort for Jinja United.

KCCA Women had drawn their last two games, both ending goalless (against Makerere University and St. Noa) and thus needed a reaction.

Indeed, they got the reaction today, with an early surge against the newly promoted side. Ainembabazi tucked home the opener in the fifth minute before Naigaga doubled the lead two minutes later.

Ainembabazi picked up an injury and was replaced by Komugisha in the 34th minute, and the latter would go on to score at the stroke of halftime.

After recess, Jinja United came back rejuvenated, with Kaudha and Kasango scoring a goal apiece.

The result means KCCA Women move to the top of the pile on 8 points, while Jinja United remain bottom of the table with no points after four matches.
