Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards will miss "up to two months" after undergoing arthroscopic right knee surgery, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday.

Edwards was previously listed as questionable due to right knee injury management ahead of a Wednesday night game against the Golden State Warriors.

The news comes the day after Wolves head coach Chris Finch told reporters he thought Edwards' injury was a "daily situation" that didn't warrant "any long term concern," per The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski.

Edwards dealt with issues in both knees last season, including a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise during the Wolves' playoff run last April.

He previously missed time after an MRI revealed inflammation in his right knee in March.

Edwards felt pain in that knee starting in March and lasting into the playoffs, according to Krawczynski.

He later said he had taken two months away from basketball this offseason to allow his knees to heal, per Krawczynski.

Edwards could be seen grabbing at his right knee during a game against the Toronto Raptors last Sunday. He still averaged 48.1 percent shooting across 33.8 minutes per night during the Wolves' 3-1 start to the season.

The Wolves star also paced the NBA with 12.5 field goals per game while averaging 33.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals.

Edwards most recently played more than 41 minutes and dropped 47 points in a Monday night overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A two-month recovery timeline would likely sideline Edwards for about 25 games and put him on track to return in late December.

Whether Jaden McDaniels and LaMelo Ball can step up their offensive contributions over that stretch will determine if the Wolves are still on track for another playoff run by the time Edwards potentially returns to the court this winter.
