Chelsea hit with new injury worry as Emi Martinez stretchered off after nasty clash at Everton
'We signed Jordan Henderson for everything', says Xabi Alonso after midfielder's stupendous brace

Emi Martinez was stretchered off in the second half of Chelsea’s Premier League meeting with Everton after a nasty collision with Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Chelsea shot stopper came out to claim a free-kick cross from Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall but suffered a nasty coming together with the hulking Everton centre-back Branthwaite.

Both team’s medical staff immediately rushed onto the pitch, and Martinez was carried off on a stretcher after a lengthy break in play. Branthwaite was back on his feet soon after.

Chelsea’s backup keeper Mike Penders was brought on to replace the Argentine.
