Club Bruges and Lens prepare for Champions League clash with key absences

Lens travel to Club Bruges on Wednesday for the third matchday of the Champions League, with both sides aiming to secure a second victory in this season’s competition.

Club Bruges

Club Bruges will be without Ordonez, who is recovering from a foot injury and has not featured this season. The Belgian side otherwise have their full squad available for the meeting with Lens.

Nicolo Tresoldi is expected to lead the attack after scoring a hat-trick against Inter, having also found the net against Aston Villa. He could be joined in the forward line by Carlos Forbs and Jan Virgili.

Brandon Mechele, Hans Vanaken, Hugo Vetlesen and goalkeeper Yann Sommer are among the experienced players expected to play a central role. Sommer joined Club Bruges from Inter.

The probable Club Bruges XI is:

Goalkeeper: Yann Sommer

Defenders: Kyriani Sabbe, Jorne Spileers, Brandon Mechele, Joaquin Seys

Midfielders: Hugo Vetlesen, Freddie Potts, Hans Vanaken

Forwards: Carlos Forbs, Nicolo Tresoldi, Jan Virgili

Lens

Lens have two confirmed injury absences, with Jonathan Gradit and Sima unavailable. Ruben Aguilar remains a doubt, while Przemys?aw Nawrocki and Deiver Machado Chavez are not eligible to play in the Champions League.

Florian Thauvin is expected to start after being twice decisive in the match against Troyes. Robin Risser and Massadio Haidara are also set to feature from the beginning.

There is competition for the central attacking position, with Franjo Ivanovic and M’Bala Nzola Edouard both challenging for a place. Ivanovic is included in the predicted starting XI.

The probable Lens XI is:

Goalkeeper: Robin Risser

Defenders: Ismaelo Ganiou, Samson Baidoo, Kylian Antonio

Midfielders: Saud Abdulhamid, Amadou Haidara, Mickael Cuisance, Matthieu Udol

Forwards: Florian Thauvin, Junior Kadile, Franjo Ivanovic

Club Bruges and Lens will meet in the third round of the Champions League league phase. The listed prices for the match are 2.02 for a Club Bruges victory, 4.00 for a draw and 3.30 for a Lens win.
