MOURAD ALIEV triumphed in securing the WBC Silver Heavyweight title by defeating Umut Camkiran, right before a major brawl broke out in the ring.
The 31-year-old, a native of Russia, first made headlines in 2020 when he conducted a 45-minute sit-in protest after a disqualification thwarted his Olympic gold aspirations.
Following a unanimous decision win against Camkiran, Aliev found himself caught in a shocking scenario as the final bell rang in Istanbul.
While celebrating at the Ulker Sports Arena, the 2019 European Games silver medalist appeared to acknowledge the audience with a wave.
However, what seemed to be a gesture for a hug from Camkiran quickly turned into a retaliatory strike, igniting an all-out brawl.
Team members from both sides, accompanied by officials and security, swarmed the ring amid the chaos.

A fifth added: “These were truly disgraceful scenes for the sport, especially with Aliev’s gesture. Such behavior is unacceptable in sports and contradicts the values of respect and fair play.”
