MARKHAM Point 2 have maintained their impressive touch football results as the league of games gets into its second month in Wewak, East Sepik, on Saturday.
The club along the wharf area was started to get children, youths, men and women involved in futsal matches in the proper season, but has now brought the winning spirit to darts, touch footy and volleyball games. It is dominated by students attending the St Mary’s and Kreer primary schools.
“We came here prepared today (Oct 17) to show our opponents that we are not only here to win futsal games by all other sports as well,” sponsor and club coordinator Masta Jack said.
“Beating MTS in the footy matches, with 2-1 in the U12 mix, 2-0 in the U16 mix, and 2-1 in the Open Men’s division, as well as forfeiting Last Boram in the Open Women’s division has made our weekend.”
Jack said they will now go back and work hard for next month when they return for touch footy games.
The once-a-month games are organised by the Sepik Football Club, which allow clubs to field teams in futsal, touch footy, volleyball and darts. Each sport is contested once a month.
