On this week’s WWE Raw show, it was announced that John Cena would be making his return to Raw on next week’s episode in Brooklyn.

With the John Cena Classic reportedly set for December, many have assumed Cena will provide more information on the event during his appearances on both Raw and NXT next week.

As the event draws closer, here are some main roster vs. NXT matches we could see take place in the John Cena Classic.

IYO SKY vs. Kelani Jordan

We seemingly got our first teaser for a John Cena Classic match during this week’s NXT show, when a segment aired between NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan and IYO SKY.

The segment was filmed during Kelani’s appearance on Raw, teasing a future match between the two women.

IYO has been featured on every single show this week, so WWE may finally be remembering exactly what they have with her, and putting Kelani in with her during the John Cena Classic would be a great introduction to a main roster audience.

CM Punk vs. Grayson Waller

It was reported that the John Cena Classic is internally expected to take place in December, which is the same month that WWE heads to Perth for Wrestlepalooza.

If the Classic takes place on the weekend surrounding Wrestlepalooza, then NXT Champion Grayson Waller would be the perfect person to put in a major match.

Waller and CM Punk teased some issues following Punk’s appearance at an NXT live event in August, which would serve as the perfect main event for the show.

Jacob Fatu vs. Zilla Fatu

Zilla Fatu has already become a fan favourite on the NXT roster since his arrival back in August, and his time in NXT may not last very long given the obvious path for him on the main roster.

However, if Zilla is still part of NXT by the time the John Cena Classic rolls around, it could serve as a way to ‘test’ him for a potential spot in the Bloodline.

Roman Reigns likely wouldn’t compete in the Classic himself, so sending Jacob instead would be the next best choice.

Rhea Ripley vs. Zaria

Rhea Ripley has been advertised for events surrounding Wrestlepalooza, with her hopefully ready to make her return in time for the Australia show.

If the John Cena Classic is also taking place in Perth, pitting Rhea against fellow Aussie Zaria would be a cool moment for both.
