Chelsea have secured the future of academy striker Chizaram Ezenwata by agreeing a new contract that will keep him at the club until at least June 2029.
The Nigeria-born forward came through Chelsea’s Cobham academy after joining the club at Under-15 level. He has since progressed through the age groups and established himself as one of the most promising young players in the London club’s youth set-up.
Ezenwata’s development has been built on consistent performances in front of goal, technical precision and an ability to make an impact in the final third. His displays during the 2025/26 season represented a significant step forward.
Playing for Chelsea’s Under-18 side, the striker scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in 21 appearances. Those figures underlined both his effectiveness as a finisher and his contribution to the wider attacking play of the team.
His performances also earned him opportunities with the CNG team, where he became an important member of the squad. Ezenwata had previously made his Premier League 2 debut during the 2024/25 season, featuring against Manchester City.
He continued to attract attention in the following campaign and was nominated for the English Under-18 Championship Player of the Season award. That recognition came after a season in which his goalscoring output and all-round contribution marked him out among the leading young players in the competition.
The new agreement represents Chelsea’s continued confidence in Ezenwata and their intention to support his progress within the academy. The next challenge for the forward will be to build on his recent performances and take the next steps towards senior professional football.
Chelsea will soon face Liverpool in the last 16 of the EFL Cup.
The match is listed with odds of 2,50 for a Chelsea victory, 3,80 for a draw and 2,40 for a Liverpool win by 1xbet.
