Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi remain the world’s two highest-paid footballers in 2026, with estimated earnings of $300 million and $145 million, respectively, according to Forbes.

France and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe ranks third with an estimated $100 million, followed by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland on $85 million.

The rankings highlight the growing financial power of football’s biggest stars, with earnings generated from club salaries, endorsements, sponsorships and other business ventures.

Ronaldo’s estimated earnings place him well ahead of his rivals, while Messi continues to benefit from commercial partnerships and revenue-sharing agreements linked to his move to Major League Soccer (MLS).

Cristiano Ronaldo ($300 million)

Ronaldo leads the list with estimated earnings of $300 million, comprising $250 million from his Saudi Pro League club, Al Nassr, and another $50 million from endorsements and other business ventures.

The Portuguese forward, who became the first active athlete to surpass $2 billion in career pre-tax earnings earlier in 2026, is targeting another league title with Al Nassr.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star has built an extensive commercial portfolio, making him one of the most financially successful athletes in history. His net worth is estimated at $1.2 billion.

Lionel Messi ($145 million)

Messi earns an estimated $70 million from playing for Inter Miami, plus $75 million from commercial partnerships and other off-field activities.

The Argentina captain earns more outside football than Ronaldo, partly because of reported revenue-sharing agreements with Adidas and Apple TV tied to his move to MLS.

Messi remains the face of American soccer, and his contract with Inter Miami runs through 2028. The agreement also includes an option to acquire an equity stake in the club after his retirement.

His commercial interests extend beyond endorsements. Messi has also invested in Spanish football, purchasing second-division club Eldense after acquiring fifth-tier side Cornellà.

Kylian Mbappe ($100 million)

Mbappé ranks third with estimated earnings of $100 million in 2026.

The Real Madrid forward has continued to strengthen his commercial profile alongside his performances on the pitch. His earnings estimate does not include the potential long-term value of a reported partnership with Swiss sportswear brand On, following the end of his relationship with Nike.

Mbappé remains one of football’s biggest commercial attractions, combining elite-level performances with endorsement opportunities and a growing global following.

Erling Haaland ($85 million)

Manchester City striker Haaland ranks fourth with estimated earnings of $85 million.

The Norwegian forward’s income combines his club salary with lucrative commercial agreements, including his partnership with sportswear giant Nike.

Haaland’s popularity extends beyond the pitch, with his social media following and distinctive public persona strengthening his appeal to sponsors and global audiences.

Vinícius Júnior ($76 million)

Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior ranks fifth with estimated earnings of $76 million.

The Brazilian international has established himself as one of the leading figures in world football, combining his performances for Real Madrid with commercial opportunities linked to his global profile.

Lamine Yamal ($55 million)

Barcelona’s teenage forward Lamine Yamal ranks sixth with estimated earnings of $55 million.

Yamal’s rapid rise has made him one of football’s most marketable young players, with his performances for club and country attracting international attention and commercial interest.

Sadio Mane ($54 million)

Senegal international Sadio Mané ranks seventh with estimated earnings of $54 million.

The forward’s move to Saudi Arabian football has strengthened his earning power, while his established international reputation continues to support his commercial appeal.

Jude Bellingham ($45 million)

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham ranks eighth with estimated earnings of $45 million.

The England international has become one of the most prominent young players in global football, attracting sponsorship opportunities alongside his club earnings.

Harry Kane (42 million)

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane ranks ninth with estimated earnings of $42 million.

The England captain’s earnings reflect his status as one of Europe’s leading forwards, with club compensation complemented by commercial partnerships.

Mohamed Salah ($40 million)

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah completes the top 10 with estimated earnings of $40 million.
The Egyptian international remains one of the Premier League’s most recognisable players, with a strong following across Africa, the Middle East and Europe contributing to his commercial appeal.
