LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- More than 2,300 youth soccer players from six states are coming to the La Crosse area this weekend for the 9th annual Coulee Cup Tournament.
About 160 teams ranging from ages 9 and up through high school are competing in La Crosse, Onalaska, and Holmen.
The tournament is drawing families from across a multi-state region. Rusty Robertson, a Rochester resident, said youth soccer has become increasingly popular with families in recent years.
"Last couple of years is when we kind of got interested in soccer, and it's just exploded," Robertson said. "I think the kids enjoy it. Families enjoy it. So I think it's really exciting."
The Coulee Cup Tournament is expected to bring more than $1.2 million into the local economy this weekend.
