CM Punk WWE Survivor Series 2026 plans: What’s next for the ‘Best in the World’ following Kevin Owens loss?
WWE's CM Punk

The main event of the Friday, November 6 episode of WWE SmackDown saw CM Punk and Kevin Owens face off in a No Holds Barred match, with “The Prizefighter” picking up the win.

Before the match Punk had spoken about his desire is to move past Owens and back towards the Undisputed WWE Title, but this loss may result in him taking a different path on the road to WWE Survivor Series on November 28.

Here are three potential plans for CM Punk at WWE Survivor Series following his loss to Kevin Owens on SmackDown:

Rubber match with Kevin Owens

Following Kevin Owens’ win on Friday, he and CM Punk now have one win a piece over each other in WWE, with Punk previously besting Owens in Toronto on August 21.

Now, typically a stipulation like No Holds Barred would be a rivalry-ender, so WWE may not have plans to make Punk vs. Owens a trilogy, and that’s fine, not every feud needs to be three matches long.

We will now find out whether Punk truly wants to just move on from Owens as quick as possible, or whether he will want to instead avenge his loss and wrestle his rival one last time.

If it is the latter, we could see that match come at Survivor Series, and WWE will have to find another stipulation that can outdo the No Holds Barred match they delivered on SmackDown.

Competes in multi-man match for Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Title

With CM Punk tasting a loss in such a high profile match against Kevin Owens, it is going to be hard to justify him getting the next shot at Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Title. Instead those with recent wins to their name like Owens and potentially Cody Rhodes will be next in line.

That’s not to say Punk has no shot of still earning a title opportunity however, as he can still feel aggrieved that he lost his championship to Zayn in the first place due to outside interference from Owens, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae.

Considering this, and just how many other stars have been in the hunt for Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Title over the past few months, it’s almost getting to the point where a big multi-man match may be required to settle things.

If Zayn can successfully defend his title in a six-way against the likes of Punk, Owens, Rhodes, GUNTHER and Finn Balor, he should finally earn the respect that he is so desperate for.

Joins Team USA for Survivor Series five vs. five match against Team Mexico

During his appearance on What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio announced that we would be seeing a traditional five vs. five Survivor Series elimination tag match on November 28, with Team USA taking on Team Mexico.

At the time of writing we only know that Rey Mysterio himself will be leading Team Mexico, we do not however, know Team USA’s captain or any of the other competitors set to be involved in the match.

If Punk is not going to be taking on Owens again, or be involved in the Undisputed WWE Title match at the show, then representing Team USA may be the next best option.
