Tennis Star Faces 20-Year Ban: ‘I Feel Nothing but Emptiness’ After Career-End Suspension

QUENTIN FOLLIOT has received a 20-YEAR suspension from tennis due to match-fixing.

Initially denying the accusations, Folliot has now confessed to manipulating four matches, with the first incident occurring when he was only 20 years old.

Once reaching a peak singles ranking of No 488 in August 2022, Folliot competed mainly at the lower-level ITF and ATP Challenger circuits.

In a statement to Le Parisien, Folliot expressed, “From one day to the next, there is nothing but emptiness.”

He continued, “All my life, I’ve only known tennis. I left school quite young… I don’t know what to do. It’s a sporting death, a social death.”

“The first time I was approached, I must have been 16 or 17.”

“From that moment on, I found myself in a vicious cycle that was extremely hard to escape.”

In December 2025, anti-corruption hearing officer Amani Khalifa confirmed 27 out of 30 charges for 10 matches that took place from 2022 to 2024.

Reports indicate that Folliot offered fellow French player Lucas Bouquet up to $22,500 to ensure a loss.

Text messages revealed that he also proposed an additional £10,000 per match to another French player, Luc Fomba.

Folliot’s claims were debated during the disciplinary hearing, but Khalifa deemed them insufficient for any significant mitigation.

Ultimately, Khalifa established that Folliot was actively recruiting players and provided guidance on payment processes, utilizing anonymous accounts and cryptocurrency.

Folliot asserted, “I never attempted to corrupt anyone.”

Khalifa increased his suspension from 15 to 20 years after finding that Folliot had obstructed the investigation.

Folliot expressed, “I don’t understand the duration of this ban; this feels like persecution.”

He was fined $70,000 (£52,621) and mandated to repay $44,624 (£33,545) in illicit payments.
