Late Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz goals see PSG beat Barcelona in Champions League

Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz struck late goals to help Paris St Germain punish Barcelona’s frailty in defence in a 4-2 Champions League victory at Parc des Princes.

Vitinha produced a brilliant finish from just outside the area in the 81st minute, moments after Lamine Yamal’s equaliser, before Ruiz made sure of the result shortly before the final whistle to keep PSG at the top of the league phase on goal difference.

Scott McTominay scored twice for Napoli in a thrilling 4-3 home win against Bodo/Glimt to help ease the pressure on head coach Max Allegri.

Matteo Politano’s first-minute opener for Napoli was cancelled out by Jens Petter Hauge and Bodo levelled again through Andreas Helmersen after the hosts had regained the lead through McTominay.

Bodo defender Odin Bjortuft’s late own goal gave Napoli a two-goal cushion before Sondre Fet stabbed home the visitors’ third in time added on.

Atletico Madrid hung on with 10 men to escape with a 1-1 draw away against Stuttgart after Morten Hjulmand was sent off, Julian Alvarez levelling following Jamie Leweling’s first-half goal.

Rio Ngumoha announced himself to the Champions League as Liverpool extended their 100 per cent record the hard way as they came from two goals down to beat Villarreal 4-3.

A night which began terribly with a Virgil van Dijk mistake ended with plenty of positives for the hosts as 18-year-old Ngumoha took the starring role as Alexis Mac Allister scored twice and Florian Wirtz grabbed his first since April.

Phil Foden scored a hat-trick as Manchester City got their campaign back on track with an emphatic 5-1 win over AEK Athens.

Elliot Anderson, with his first goal for the club, and Rayan Cherki were also on the scoresheet in a one-sided contest at the Etihad Stadium.

The Greek champions rallied early in the second half to cut the deficit to 2-1 through Stavros Palios but it was a rare moment of quality from the visitors.

Roma hammered Slovan Bratislava 4-0 whilst PSV Eindhoven were 1-0 winners at Porto.

Borussia Dortmund were 2-1 winners against Azerbaijani side Sabah and Fenerbahce drew 2-2 with Slavia Prague.
