Channeling Corporate Strategy: Kanalelo Unveils Bold Rescue Plan for Gallants

Marumo Gallants’ head coach Ronnie Kananelo has shared the changes he has implemented at the club since his arrival, highlighting organisation as a primary focus area for improvement.

Kananelo assumed leadership of Bahlabane Ba Ntwa in September, stepping in after the exit of Phuti Mohafe, who faced challenges during the early stages of the 2026/27 season.

The 55-year-old has managed two matches since taking over, unfortunately losing both. His most recent loss was a 2-1 defeat against Sekhukhune United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Despite these disappointing outcomes, Kananelo has articulated the transformations he has initiated, with a strong emphasis on organisation being a key aspect.

“My focus is on organisation, structure, and ensuring that players operate effectively from their designated positions, rather than just moving aimlessly,” Kananelo explained.

“I describe it as visiting other offices when tasks need attention, and you’re not in your own office – that’s how I view it. Organisation is crucial, not just on the field but in every aspect.

“I often liken it to how an office functions in the corporate world. There’s a defined structure. You have a CEO, and everyone has their designated office and role. If someone is absent from their position, the organization will struggle. When you need to engage someone, it should be for a specific purpose and temporarily, to ensure smooth operations.”

Kananelo, who claimed two league titles with Mamelodi Sundowns, remarked: “In football, it’s quite similar. There are roles that align with your strengths. Everything you do is executed from your position. From there, you determine how to engage with the ball and the opponent.

“Organisation is fundamentally important, and that is one of the key elements I have instilled in the team since day one.”
