Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa is drawing comparisons to Dutch great Arjen Robben following his recent performances in the Eredivisie, though analysts warn the Algerian international must sustain his high level of play.
Speaking on the NOS Voetbalpodcast, broadcaster Jeroen Stekelenburg evaluated the development of the Algerian attacker, highlighting his growing maturity on the pitch. According to Stekelenburg, Hadj Moussa displays the raw capability to reach the tier of former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben if he can eliminate inconsistency from his game.
“He only goes into a duel or an action when there is actual potential in it,” Stekelenburg noted on the podcast. “That is quite difficult to distinguish, but if he truly becomes constant, he is of the level of Arjen Robben. He is naturally not quite there yet right now.”
Hadj Moussa arrived in the Netherlands with a reputation for erratic play. Analyst Anne de Jong, speaking on the same broadcast, recalled the player’s initial entry into the Dutch top flight.

“He came into the Eredivisie as a kind of unguided missile, a circus footballer,” De Jong said, recounting evaluations made when the winger first transferred to Feyenoord and observers argued that a structured environment was vital to harness his raw talent. De Jong pointed to recent outings, including a decisive performance against Como where Hadj Moussa’s work after halftime shifted the momentum, as proof that Feyenoord’s coaching staff has built that necessary framework around him.
The broader environment at Feyenoord has fueled the team’s strong run of form. Analysts highlighted the unconditional backing from Het Legioen inside De Kuip, which creates an intense atmosphere that translates onto the pitch. Alongside the supporters, manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has earned praise for maintaining composure during difficult phases of the campaign. Stekelenburg observed that the working relationship between Van Bronckhorst and his backroom staff remains steady, anchoring the squad even when matches grow tense.
Hadj Moussa faces the ongoing challenge of replicating the commanding form he displayed against Como on a weekly basis as Feyenoord continues its domestic and European commitments.
