Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma has taken his batting to another level since assuming the Test captaincy.

Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma has taken his batting to another level since assuming the Test captaincy, averaging nearly 20 runs more than when he was not captain.

According to BBC Sport, Bavuma averages 54.36 in 14 Tests as captain, compared to 34.53 in 54 Tests without the responsibility.

His improvement of 19.83 runs places him among the biggest beneficiaries of Test captaincy, alongside the likes of Imran Khan, Graham Gooch and Bob Simpson.

Bavuma’s remarkable transformation was underlined by his career-best 179 against Australia at St George’s Park on Tuesday, his fifth Test century
