FOOTBALL enthusiasts were left astonished when Brighton’s Diego Gomez fired a remarkable goal from the HALFWAY LINE.

Things quickly went south for Crystal Palace, with young defender Jaydee Canvot inadvertently putting the ball into his own net after just four minutes.

Just three minutes later, things took a spectacular twist when Paraguayan midfielder Gomez attempted a daring shot from the halfway line.

With Palace players surrounding him, he decided to unleash a powerful shot, soaring over Eagles backup keeper Walter Benitez and dipping in time to double his team’s lead.

The crowd at the Amex and fans online erupted with excitement, struggling to comprehend Gomez’s incredible goal.

One user exclaimed: “Diego Gomez… take a bow! What have we just witnessed?”
