RAYO VALLECANO has been mandated to complete the remainder of their halted match against Athletic Bilbao behind closed doors due to fans consistently throwing projectiles.
The LaLiga teams were still trying to score when their encounter at the Estadio de Vallecas turned chaotic last weekend.
Angry Rayo supporters hurled paper airplanes onto the pitch in protest against owner and president Raul Martin Presa.
Both teams were escorted off the field by referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez.
When the match resumed, following the intervention of Rayo players Oscar Valentin and Isi Palazon speaking to the ultras, more items were thrown from the crowd.
This led to the match being postponed on police advice, and the hosts now face significant penalties.

LaLiga officials have controversially decided that the remaining 67 minutes of the match must be held behind closed doors.
Additionally, Rayo must cover all travel and accommodation costs for Athletic Bilbao as they prepare for the rescheduled match.
If both clubs cannot agree on a private alternative, the visitors will send their invoices to the judge.
LaLiga executives assert that their decision to close the Estadio de Vallecas to fans is a preventative measure to avoid another suspension of the match.

This follows the negative reactions that emerged after the disturbing incidents, prompting a strong statement from the league’s authorities.
The statement read: “LaLiga firmly condemns this behavior, which jeopardizes safety and disrupts the normal operations of the competition.”
Rayo also had to abandon their Estadio de Vallecas home during the early part of the season.
They were compelled to host their first three home matches in Leganes due to safety issues.
Rayo will be back in action on Monday, as they visit a Getafe team rumored to be considering a surprise move for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
Last season’s Conference League runners-up, who have former Newcastle defender Florian Lejeune in their lineup, are only a point above the relegation zone.
