Marco Jansen took 5-33 as Australia were bowled out for 99 in their first innings, leaving South Africa 326 runs ahead and forcing the visitors to follow on in Gqeberha.

Australia resumed the fourth day on 3-1 and lost nightwatchman Scott Boland early, caught behind by Ryan Rickelton off Jansen for two. Travis Head fell lbw to Jansen for 14.

The collapse came in the 30th over, when Matt Renshaw was caught by Simon Harmer for 12 and Alex Carey was caught behind for a duck, both off Jansen with the score on 65. Beau Webster, caught by Aiden Markram for 13, was Jansen’s fifth victim.

Steve Smith’s 28 off 88 balls was the highest score of the innings before Wiaan Mulder bowled him at 96. Mulder finished with 2-14, including Pat Cummins, and Kagiso Rabada took 2-33, while Anrich Nortje had Marnus Labuschagne caught by Harmer before exiting due to injury.
