A veteran South African football tactician has advised Mamelodi Sundowns striker Brayan León to be careful about his social media activity as he continues to struggle with his finishing in front of goal.
León has faced criticism over missed scoring opportunities, with questions being raised about his ability to convert chances consistently since joining the Tshwane giants. The Colombian forward arrived with expectations of strengthening Sundowns’ attacking options, but his finishing has become a talking point among supporters and football observers.
The experienced coach believes the striker needs to dedicate more time to improving his finishing rather than allowing outside noise to distract him. He suggested that regular practice and concentration on the fundamentals of scoring could help León become more effective in the final third.
“Leon is therefore missing chances because he needs more practice,” the tactician said, pointing to the importance of repetition and hard work in improving a striker’s confidence and accuracy in front of goal.
The coach also cautioned León about social media, where criticism and public reactions can add pressure on players who are already working to overcome a difficult spell. According to the advice, remaining focused on training and listening to the technical team would be more beneficial than becoming distracted by online discussions.
For Sundowns, León’s improvement could be important as the club continues to compete on multiple fronts. The striker’s movement and ability to get into scoring positions offer potential, but converting those opportunities remains a key part of his role.
With the season continuing, León will have opportunities to respond through his performances on the pitch. Consistent finishing, patience and confidence could help him silence his critics and establish himself as a reliable option in Sundowns’ attack.
