South African media personality Andile Ncube believes Yanela Mbuthuma was destined to play for a big club like Orlando Pirates, insisting that the young striker has the qualities needed to succeed at the highest level.
Ncube has praised Mbuthuma's journey from Richards Bay to Orlando Pirates, pointing out that the striker had already shown signs of his potential before making the move to the Soweto giants.
According to Ncube, Mbuthuma stood out during his time at Richards Bay, where his performances suggested that he was capable of playing for a bigger club. He believes the striker needed an environment that would allow him to grow and compete alongside experienced players.
"Yanela Mbuthuma was made to play for a big club like Orlando Pirates," Ncube said.
He explained that Mbuthuma's performances at Richards Bay convinced him that the forward would not remain at the club for long because his talent was evident.
"I remember when I started seeing Yanela at Richards Bay, and I said he's not gonna last there because you could tell he's made for a bigger team. He was the sun and light of that team at Richards Bay. He stuck out," Ncube added.
Mbuthuma's move to Orlando Pirates represented an important step in his career, giving him the opportunity to compete for a place in one of South Africa's biggest football clubs.
However, playing for a team with the expectations and pressure associated with Pirates comes with its own challenges. The striker must compete for opportunities, deliver consistent performances and prove that he can handle the demands of playing for a club where supporters expect results.
Ncube believes experienced players have an important role to play in helping Mbuthuma develop. Having senior teammates around him could provide guidance, improve his confidence and help him adjust to the demands of top-level football.
The striker's progress has also attracted attention because of his involvement in discussions surrounding Bafana Bafana selection. His national-team recognition represents another important stage in his development and offers him an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities on a bigger platform.
Despite the questions raised by some supporters about his place in the Orlando Pirates starting line-up, Ncube's comments suggest that Mbuthuma deserves patience as he continues to develop.
For the young forward, the challenge now is to turn his potential into consistent performances and justify the faith placed in him by the club.
His journey from Richards Bay to Orlando Pirates is a reminder that young players can make significant progress when given opportunities to showcase their talent.
With the right support and continued hard work, Mbuthuma will hope to establish himself as an important player for the Buccaneers and continue progressing in South African football.
