Floyd Mogale has left Mbabane Highlanders after only a few months in charge, bringing an early end to his time at the Eswatini Premier League side. The South African coach joined the club in July on a three-year contract, with Highlanders choosing him ahead of several other candidates to lead the team in the 2026/27 season.
Mogale arrived with solid experience from the South African Premier Soccer League. He has coached at clubs such as Royal AM, Chippa United, Black Leopards and Free State Stars, and also spent time in a scouting role at Mamelodi Sundowns. Highlanders had parted ways with their previous coach, Selaotse Mosala, and saw Mogale as the right man to push for major honours.
Things did not go according to plan. After just four matches and a difficult start to the campaign, Mogale tendered his resignation. According to reports, he made the decision known to the players on Monday morning before returning to South Africa. The sudden departure has left the club scrambling for a new head coach so early in the season.
In his absence, training has been handled by physical trainer Percy Shongwe and goalkeeper coach Brilliant Khuzwayo while the club searches for a permanent replacement. Mbabane Highlanders, owned by South African businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize, had hoped the experienced coach would bring stability and results. Instead, they now face the challenge of finding someone new with the season already under way.
Mogale’s short stay highlights how quickly things can change in football, even when a coach arrives with a long-term deal and strong backing from the club. For Highlanders, the focus now turns to appointing a new coach who can steady the side and get the campaign back on track. Fans and the club will be watching closely to see who steps into the role next.
