Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a heartfelt message to football supporters around the world, insisting that fans deserve to share in the recognition he has received after celebrating the Ballon d’Or of All Time honour.

The Portuguese superstar, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, used his message to acknowledge the millions of supporters who have followed his remarkable journey throughout his career.

Ronaldo's statement highlighted the special relationship between footballers and their fans, with the Al-Nassr forward making it clear that his achievements would not carry the same meaning without the support of those who have stood behind him.

“Football belongs to the fans! Thanks to all the fans around the world. The Ballon d’Or of All Time is also yours,” Ronaldo said.

His words underline a message that has remained central to football's global appeal: the supporters are not simply spectators but an essential part of the game that makes the sport so powerful.

Ronaldo recognises the people behind his success

Throughout his career, Ronaldo has built a global following through his performances, determination and pursuit of excellence.

From his early days at Sporting CP to his rise at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, the Portuguese forward has played in some of football's biggest competitions and attracted enormous attention from supporters across different generations.

His time with Real Madrid was particularly influential in establishing his status as one of the sport's most prolific goalscorers, while his achievements with Manchester United and Juventus further strengthened his reputation.

Ronaldo has also enjoyed considerable success with Portugal, including winning the European Championship in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019.

Those achievements have helped create a connection with supporters who have followed his career through victories, disappointments and memorable individual performances.

His latest message reflects an appreciation of that connection, recognising that football's greatest moments are made even more meaningful by the people who celebrate them.

A reminder of football's true power

Football is often discussed through trophies, individual awards, statistics and records. However, Ronaldo's message shifts the attention towards the supporters who give the sport its atmosphere and emotional significance.

Fans travel long distances, fill stadiums, follow their teams across continents and remain emotionally invested in their favourite players.

Their reactions can turn an ordinary match into an unforgettable occasion, while their loyalty often continues even during difficult periods.

Ronaldo's words acknowledge that relationship and suggest that recognition at the highest level should also be shared with the people who have helped make a player's journey memorable.

For a footballer with such an extensive international following, that message carries particular significance.

His career has crossed leagues, countries and generations, making him a familiar figure to supporters around the world.

The significance of the Ballon d’Or of All Time

The Ballon d’Or of All Time is a special distinction associated with the prestigious individual award in football. Any discussion of such recognition inevitably brings comparisons between legendary players, their achievements and their influence on the game.
