Real Madrid Bring Back Iconic adidas Y-3 Dragon Jersey

Real Madrid have officially brought back one of the most memorable football shirts in the club's history after joining forces with sportswear manufacturer adidas to relaunch their iconic Y-3 Dragon jersey.

The special edition shirt, originally introduced during the 2014/15 season, is returning almost 12 years after it first captured the attention of football supporters and fashion enthusiasts around the world.

The original design was created through a collaboration between Real Madrid, adidas and renowned Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, who worked under his Y-3 label. The partnership brought together football and high-end fashion, producing a unique shirt that quickly became one of the most recognisable alternative kits worn by the Spanish giants.

The jersey was particularly special because it arrived shortly after Real Madrid achieved one of the biggest milestones in their history by winning their 10th European Cup, famously known as La Décima.

That historic achievement strengthened the club's position as one of the biggest forces in European football, and the Y-3 collaboration provided another way to celebrate its global identity.

One of the most distinctive features of the original shirt was its dragon-inspired design. The artwork gave the jersey a different appearance from the traditional football kits supporters were accustomed to seeing.

Yohji Yamamoto's involvement also made the collaboration special because of his reputation in the international fashion industry. His creative approach helped transform the shirt into more than just football clothing, making it a popular item among collectors and supporters.

The decision to relaunch the iconic design demonstrates the continued connection between Real Madrid and the fashion world. It also gives supporters who missed out on the original release an opportunity to experience a memorable piece of the club's history.

For long-time Real Madrid fans, the return of the Y-3 Dragon jersey brings back memories of the 2014/15 campaign and the club's historic European success.

Although football shirts regularly change with new seasons, some designs remain unforgettable because of the stories and special moments connected to them.

The return of the Y-3 Dragon jersey is another reminder that football culture goes beyond what happens on the pitch.
