South African attacker Devin Titus played a part as Maghreb Fes secured qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage after defeating ASEC Mimosas 2-1 in the second leg of their second preliminary round tie on Sunday night.
The Moroccan side advanced with a 3-2 aggregate victory after a competitive two-legged encounter against the Ivorian club. The first meeting ended in a 1-1 draw, with Titus providing an assist to help his team secure a valuable result ahead of the return fixture.
In Sunday’s decisive match, Maghreb Fes delivered the performance needed to overcome their opponents and book their place in the next phase of the continental competition. Their 2-1 victory proved enough to settle the tie in their favour, completing an important achievement in their campaign.
Titus’ contribution across the two matches will be encouraging for the South African forward as he continues his career in Moroccan football. His assist in the first leg demonstrated his ability to influence attacking situations, while his involvement in the return fixture further highlighted his role in the team’s efforts.
Maghreb Fes will now prepare for the group stage, where they will face a tougher challenge against some of Africa’s leading clubs. Reaching this stage gives the Moroccan side an opportunity to compete on a bigger continental platform and pursue further success.
South African striker Tshegofatso Mabasa was also part of the matchday squad for the second leg. However, he began the encounter on the bench as Maghreb Fes worked towards securing qualification.
The result represents a positive development for the club and its South African representatives, with Titus playing a role in a campaign that has now taken the team into the group stage.
Attention will now turn to the next phase of the CAF Champions League, where Maghreb Fes will aim to build on their progress and make a strong impression against the continent’s top opposition.
