The Carling Knockout quarter-final draw has produced four exciting fixtures, with Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns discovering their opponents as the competition moves closer to the semi-finals.
The draw took place on Wednesday evening at Chatsworth Stadium, following the completion of the first round of matches. Stellenbosch FC became the final team to secure a place in the last eight after beating Durban City 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
Stellenbosch will now turn their attention to their quarter-final meeting against AmaZulu, who have also enjoyed a strong run in the competition. The Cape Winelands side will have home advantage for the match and will be hoping to continue their cup journey by reaching the semi-finals.
AmaZulu, coached by Arthur Zwane, have been in good form and will be looking to make the most of their opportunity. Their clash against Stellenbosch could be one of the most closely contested matches of the quarter-final round, with both teams determined to progress.
Defending champions Orlando Pirates have been drawn against Sekhukhune United, setting up another meeting between the two sides. Pirates will be aiming to protect their title and remain on course for another Carling Knockout triumph. However, Sekhukhune United will be determined to stop the Buccaneers and secure their own place in the semi-finals.
Kaizer Chiefs will host Siwelele FC in another important fixture. Amakhosi will be hoping to take advantage of playing at home as they continue their pursuit of silverware. Siwelele, meanwhile, will have the chance to cause an upset and eliminate one of the country's biggest clubs from the competition.
Mamelodi Sundowns will face Golden Arrows in a repeat of their recent meeting in the MTN8. The two teams are familiar with each other, which could make their upcoming encounter particularly interesting. Sundowns will be looking to progress, but Golden Arrows will be eager to produce another strong performance against the Pretoria-based side.
The other teams that had already qualified before Stellenbosch's victory were AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United and Siwelele FC.
The quarter-final draw followed a seeded format, which meant that teams that finished inside the top eight of last season's league standings could not be drawn against each other in this round.
The confirmed fixtures are Stellenbosch FC versus AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates versus Sekhukhune United, Kaizer Chiefs versus Siwelele FC, and Mamelodi Sundowns versus Golden Arrows.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for 7 and 8 November, although the exact dates and kick-off times for the individual matches are yet to be confirmed.
With four places in the semi-finals available, all eight teams will be under pressure to deliver strong performances. The knockout format leaves little room for mistakes, and every club will know that a single defeat will end its hopes of winning the Carling Knockout trophy this season.
