David Raya Sets Incredible Premier League Record as Arsenal Goalkeeper Outshines His Rivals

David Raya has established himself as one of the Premier League's most reliable goalkeepers, with the Arsenal star recording more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper since making his debut in the competition in 2021.

The Spanish international's impressive statistics underline his remarkable consistency between the posts, highlighting how his performances have helped Arsenal become one of the strongest defensive teams in English football.

According to available statistics, Raya has recorded 67 Premier League clean sheets since the 2021–22 season, placing him ahead of several established goalkeepers, including Liverpool's Alisson Becker, who has registered 59 during the same period. Jordan Pickford and Manchester City's former first-choice goalkeeper Ederson have also featured among the leading names in the rankings.

Raya's Remarkable Journey from Brentford to Arsenal

Raya began his Premier League journey with Brentford in August 2021, quickly demonstrating his ability to compete against some of the division's best attackers.

His performances for the Bees attracted attention from Arsenal, who secured his services initially on loan before making the move permanent.

Since arriving in north London, the goalkeeper has become an important figure in Mikel Arteta's system. His composure, excellent distribution and ability to make crucial saves have strengthened Arsenal's defensive structure.

Raya is particularly comfortable playing out from the back, allowing Arsenal to build attacks from deep positions while maintaining control of possession.

His ability to combine traditional goalkeeping qualities with modern distribution skills makes him a valuable asset to Arteta's tactical approach.

Three Consecutive Golden Glove Awards

Raya's outstanding performances have also translated into individual recognition.

The goalkeeper won the Premier League Golden Glove award in the 2023–24 season after recording 16 clean sheets in 32 appearances for Arsenal.

He subsequently claimed the award again in 2024–25, sharing the honour with Nottingham Forest's Matz Sels after both finished with 13 clean sheets.

Raya then completed an impressive hat-trick by winning the 2025–26 Golden Glove with 19 clean sheets in 37 league appearances.

These achievements demonstrate his consistency across different campaigns rather than a brief period of exceptional form.

Arsenal's Defensive Strength

Raya's success cannot be separated from Arsenal's organised defensive structure. Players such as William Saliba and Gabriel have played important roles in limiting opposition opportunities, while Arteta's tactical discipline has helped the team protect its goal.

Nevertheless, Raya's individual contributions remain significant, particularly when opponents manage to break through the defensive line.

With his clean-sheet record continuing to attract attention, Raya has strengthened his reputation as one of the Premier League's outstanding goalkeepers.

For Arsenal supporters, his performances offer further encouragement as the club continues its pursuit of domestic and European success.
