Young Africans SC Pull the Trigger on Manqoba Mngqithi in Shock Coaching Decision

Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga SC) have officially ended their working relationship with South African coach Manqoba Mngqithi, bringing his time at the Tanzanian club to a close. The development represents another important moment in the experienced coach’s career and has sparked speculation about where he could continue his coaching journey.

Yanga SC confirmed the separation through an official statement, expressing appreciation for Mngqithi’s services and wishing him well in his future endeavours. However, the club has not explained the reasons behind the decision or provided information about its plans for appointing a replacement.

Mngqithi joined the Tanzanian giants with extensive coaching experience, particularly from his successful years in South African football. He is widely recognised for his long association with Mamelodi Sundowns, where he served as an assistant coach before taking on the responsibility of leading the first team.

His time at Sundowns gave him considerable exposure to domestic competitions and continental tournaments. Through his tactical understanding, technical knowledge and familiarity with African football, Mngqithi established himself as an experienced figure within the coaching community.

His departure from Yanga SC will now place the club’s technical direction under the spotlight. The Tanzanian side is one of the country's most prominent football institutions, with a large and passionate following and a strong history of competing for domestic honours.

Yanga also regularly participates in continental competitions, where expectations from supporters remain high. Consequently, the decision to part ways with Mngqithi could influence the club’s preparations and broader ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.

Supporters will be keen to discover what prompted the separation and whether the club intends to make further changes to its technical department. For now, Yanga SC have not provided additional details about the circumstances surrounding the decision.

Meanwhile, Mngqithi could begin exploring opportunities elsewhere, either in South Africa or in another African country. His previous experience at Mamelodi Sundowns and his understanding of the continent’s competitive football environment could make him an attractive candidate for clubs seeking an established coach.

Although neither Yanga SC nor Mngqithi has publicly offered further clarification, attention will increasingly focus on his next destination. His departure leaves questions about the club’s immediate coaching plans while opening a new chapter in the career of the South African tactician.
